Hydraulic Stair Platform - Reverse Engineering
Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia (GMF) Internship | Hand Metrology → 3D CAD

Why
This hydraulic stair platform had no readily available drawing documentation, so any repair or replacement part required outsourcing to external vendors, a costly and slow dependency for aviation maintenance operations.
What
Reverse-engineered the platform into a complete 3D CAD assembly and 2D manufacturing drawings, enabling in-house fabrication and repair.
How
- Extracted dimensional data via on-site hand metrology (vernier calipers, tape measures) directly from the physical structure.
- Translated raw field measurements into a complete 3D assembly using Autodesk Inventor, accurately reconstructing the original design intent despite physical wear and complex joint geometries.
Autodesk InventorMetrology and measurement
Result
- Successfully digitized undocumented Ground Support Equipment (GSE), directly empowering the maintenance facility to localize fabrication and reduce reliance on external vendors.
